South Korean manufacturing firms have a lot going for them these days. Despite their recent conflict with the North, commerce in South Korea is skyrocketing. Korean electrical appliances, ships, and power generation are commended for high quality, dependability, and lower prices. So it makes sense that more and more Western firms are looking to South Korea. Selling what the world is looking to purchase: the best equipment with the shortest lead-times at competitive prices. When considering these three factors, many companies are turning to Korea for solutions.
Based in Dallas and doing business worldwide, USP&E Global is another such firm. “In Mid-2010 we were looking for an equipment package that would be guaranteed to meet the urgent energy requirements of our iron ore mining client in Sierra Leone, and there was really only one option for us at the end of the day,” said COO Jason Biermeier, referring to their multi-million dollar power station engineering, procurement and construction project with UK-based London Mining near Freetown, Sierra Leone.
Companies like USP&E Global who sells diesel generators, are a part of a growing contingency of multinational firms invigorated by a new gold rush of economic activity in Iraq and other emerging markets such as Nigeria, South Africa, Ethiopia and Brazil. USP&E has found a niche though – offering superior quality Korean-made power generation equipment that is easier to install and costs less up initially and over 5 years. Leveraging their expertise in power station construction and commissioning, USP&E recently won a $100 million HFO power station project in Iraq.
“We have a signed LOI from our client in Iraq guaranteeing over $100 million in energy infrastructure projects per year for the next 3 years, and it is all for Korean Equipment,” stated Jason Biermeier, COO of USP&E Companies. “We are really excited about our partnerships with such remarkable manufacturing companies, both in the US and in Korea. Our countries work so well together. We have many friends in Korea and have much to learn from their culture and quality control methods.”
Up over 300% in revenues in 2010, the USPE executive team forecasts 80% growth per year for the next five years “at least”. If you’ve lately purchased any high-end technological devices, you might be considering whether globalization is actually all that bad. After all, doesn’t everyone just want to be able to purchase the highest quality equipment at the best possible prices?
